Where to visit in South Africa - Hi
You may have seen my recent message in this forum about the 3 month trip that my husband and I have just booked to Africa next year. We're having a bit of trouble though deciding on which trip to do at the end when we arrive in South Africa.
We're not sure if the Garden Route is worth doing. We're trying to find a tour that goes from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth but are having trouble and we're not sure whether we should just miss out the Garden Route entirely? Is it worth doing or not?
Also, we're not sure whether we should just do a simple Kruger safari after our volunteer work in Jo'berg or whether we should do a trip that includes other places such as Swaziland, Mozambique (Maupto) and Durban.
Obviously while we're out there we want to visit as many places as we can but the costs keep adding up and up and we don't know whether we should pay any more to visit more places....

Iquitos, Peru, heart of the Amazon rainforest - If you would like to visit the primary Amazon rainforest, but worry about not being able to do so as an openly GLBT person or couple, come to Iquitos, Peru.
As an openly gay man, I was slightly worried about being able to live the lifestyle I was used to, when I decided to move to Iquitos and teach English here for a year. After all, Peru is a conservative, mostly catholic country, on a continent that is hardly known for its gay-friendly attitudes.
So I was more than a bit surprised to find that Iquitos is a progressive and open-minded city, with a thriving gay community, several gay bars and clubs and many openly gay, lesbian and transgender inhabitants.
We just celebrated our fourth Gay Pride Day with a parade through town that did not shy away from the rougher parts of the city. It's no San Francisco, another town where I lived for several years, and there were only a couple of hundred participants, but people lining the streets cheered us on and everyone had a good time....

Memorable European Destination - Greetings!
Planning an exciting 7-9 days vacation for summer 2008 (June - August) to a destination in Europe. This will be the first visit and I hope more in the future. We look at two popular destinations: Greece (Santorini/Thira) and Italy (Venice, Rome, Florence, and Sicily).
Travel expense to Santorini is more expensive than to Italy. Both places offer classic architectural buildings and landscapes. Scenery on Santorini is unique especially at sunset. What are the exciting and memorable attractions? How would you compare Venice, Rome, Florence, and Sicily? (Personally, I enjoy watching sunrise and sunset over the ocean from high above.)
I appreciate and look forward to reading your response about those destinations.....

This post is specifically on Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto). Japan attracts me as it offers the very purest, albeit old, Asian culture, architecture, and technology. I recently watched the film, Lost in Translation. This movie makes me want to live in Japan.
I visited Vietnam, so I am familiar with the region. My real concern with Japan is the language. Please post your experience and thought on destination Japan.....

Anything comparable to amazon.com in Costa Rica? - Hi everyone,
I came to Costa Rica about two weeks ago and will be staying for the next 5 months doing an internship. I don't have a car here so I was wondering if there is any online-shopping-site comparable to amazon.com where I can order things because I am having trouble getting to places.
Thanks for any help you guys can give me!

Travel Hangman - Time for a new game on here!
I present to you "Travel Hangman". http://www.paul-johnson.co.uk/forum-images/hang.gif
It's like normal hangman, except it's travel related. It might be a place, the name of a company, something that you do when you travel anything that's got something to do with travel.
OK, first off we need some rules:
1. You are allowed up to 12 wrong guesses a guess could be the suggestion of a letter or the suggestion of the whole thing
2. Nobody is allowed to make a guess until the person that's started the game has responded to any outstanding guesses. For example, if someone guesses 'A', you must first wait for the originator of the game to confirm whether there is or isn't an 'A' in the word. It's also probably helpful if the originator posts a list of wrong guesses to date....
